What do you think?
In a recent reading for a class I was particulary astounded by the researchers findings that strong leaders don't spend a lot of time finding and researching new ideas to improve the school. These ideas tend to come from the administrator's teachers. Good leaders use these ideas and impower their teachers to help create the change the school needs. Do you think this a good practice for leaders? Why or why not?

I think the middle ground is the best ground here. I beleive that it is very important for effective administrators to read recent research to stay informed about best practices. Forcing such change upon a staff however is very unlikely to be sucessful. Administrators armed with the knowledge however can incorporate research based best practicts that match the ideas of staff meembers.

This is interesting, I'm curious to see the article (maybe you could post a link to it as well. Jimmy's point of middle ground is where I stand as well. I think as an administrator it is important for us to be thinking constantly, engaging our staff, and trying to think out of the box on how to improve our schools. I do know that as a teacher, that teachers have some pretty amazing thoughts as well. As an administrator, one should be open minded to ideas but also knowledgable and innovative enought to bring some to the table as well.
